Vitalius chromatus, formerly Nhandu chromatus is a bold, large terrestrial species from Brazil. It is a favorite in the hobby for its striking "skunk-like" patterns and its tendency to stay out in the open, making it an excellent display animal
- Size: They are quite substantial, with adult females reaching a leg span of 5.5 to 7 inches
- Lifespan: Females are long-lived, reaching 12 to 15+ years, while males typically live for 3 to 4 years.
- Temperament: Generally skittish and defensive. They are notorious for being "hair kickers" and will readily flick urticating hairs if disturbed. Because of their speed and defensive nature, they are best suited for intermediate keepers
